Tekkie Tekkie Muna (Wow! I seem to can’t enough of all these coding challenges), DevCon has organized another event for the persistent coders and developers in us.
The Philippines is basking in an Information Technology Renaissance…
We’ve seen the Startup scene and IT sector hogging the headlines. Now, to support budding technopreneurs and their garage operations in discovering co-founders/new talents — following the success of Hack2HATCH — DevCon is hosting a CODE CHALLENGE CUP (C-CUP) on November 30, 2012 in Xavier School (Greenhills).
C-Cup aims to help spur critical thinking and highlight problem solving strategies under pressure. It is patterned after the International Collegiate Programming Contest organized by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) — the oldest, largest and most prestigious programming contest in the world. Hardcore IT geeks consider this to be the “Olympics of Computer Programming.”
Tekkie Tekkie Muna (Hackathon mula umaga hanggang madaling araw, tuloy-tuloy hanggang sa susunod na madaling araw), after the Blackberry Jam Hackathon, then soon the Bigas Hackathon on November 10 and 11, another Hackathon has shown its face.
SMART DevNet and WebGeek Philippines is aiming for Foursquare Hack Day Philippines to become the largest mobile app hackaton in the country. Dubbed as “Social. Location. Mobile. Connected” with an official hashtag of #4SQHackPH, they are in search for the greatest SoLoMo app to be held at SaDoce, 12/F Smart Tower 2, 6799 Ayala Ave, Makati on December 1.
HACKATHONS are everywhere!!! Here’s another one from SMART DevNet.
BIGAS Hackathon is a two-day developer event and hackathon hosted by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and Smart Communications, Inc.(Smart) and powered by
SMART Developer Network (SMART DevNet), the developer community for Smart’s technology platform. We’re inviting existing and aspiring developers to create a web and/or mobile app that can be used to further enhance the impact of IRRI technologies especially in their delivery to farmers. We’re looking for web and mobile apps which could help solve some of IRRI’s toughest problems. The challenges could be in such areas as:
· Improving the collection and study of research data
· Providing information and/or technologies to farmers or extension workers
· Indexing library and other institute data
· Improving institute processes and procedures
· Storing survey data better, or speeding up survey data processing
· Designing a digital moisture meter etc.
So if you’re interested, REGISTER NOW!
Tekkie Tekkie Muna (Look straight into the computer, and titigang maigi ang premyo nila), have you heard of the BlackBerry Jam Hackathon – a 40-hour Blackberry app development competition where participants battle it out for top prizes like a Trip to Bangkok, Thailand for 4, 1 BlackBerry 10 DevAlpha, 4 BlackBerry 7 devices, 4 BlackBerry Playbook tablets plus consultancy from RIM.
What do they have to do? Just hack their way to a potential money-making BlackBerry app idea and present it to a board of judges from the BlackBerry community composed of Dave Patterson, Christian Besler, Cameron Vernest and William Yu.
Philippine BlackBerry developer group PinoyBBDev hosted the PinoyBBDev Hackathon 2012 last August 4 and 5. Almost 100 developers gathered from around the country and spent 35 hours to develop apps for BlackBerry.
Twenty-Two Teams accepted the 2 day hackathon challenge last Aug 4-5. Attendees from several companies, schools, and freelancers join forces to create 22 Blackberry applications using different platforms namely Adobe AIR, HTML5, Native C++, Android and Cascades.
