These mobile phones were announced last June, and now it is said it will be available this September for a price of Php7,690 for the single-SIM variant and Php8,490 for the Xperia tipo dual SIM.
These are budget-friendly feature phones that both feature Android Ice Cream Sandwich squeezed inside tiny 103 x 57 x 13mm, 99.4g shell. Under the hood you’ll find a 800 MHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7225AA processor powering the show, 512 mb RAM and with a 3.2-inch scratch-resistant touchscreen sitting on the front. A 3.2MP camera lies on the back, with no mention of any sort of flash. It has a 1,500mAh battery expected to last for 24 hours. It will be available in black, white, red and blue colors.
Other specs include a FM radio, GPS with A-GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/n, 2.5GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot.
Both the phones share similar specs, but of the two the Tipo Dual is the more interesting, as it offers dual-sim functionality. The dual-SIM version has a dedicated button on its side to switch between the two SIM cards. With a press of a button, you can switch between two different SIM profiles and tariffs, without having to reset the handset.
Each phone also allows you to set a data usage limit so you won’t have to accidentally exceed your allocated budget.
